MZ the motorcycle company which has been in financial strife, until it's new owners Martin Wimmer and Ralf Waldmann brought the company in 2009, has revealed it's new SM125. An exciting light motorcycle with supermoto styling. This new machine also has a revolutionary engine with a variable valve adjusting mechanism. Released in 2013, we're looking forward to it with great expectations.
Instructor Aaron has purchased a Suzuki TL1000. Know for one of the greatest engines on one hand and the most unpredictable chassis handling on the other! Enjoy it Aaron and keep it between the hedges!!
Over the last month we've test the LS2 ff351 motorcycle helmet from Ghostbikes. This helmet would be categorized as a budget helmet, priced at around £30. First impressions are that it's a sleek looking Helmet with strong race styling. It's comfortable and also offers a pneumatic fitting system, much like the reebok pump trainers, aiding a firm but comfortable fit. The cheap pricing of the helmet does not reflect the overall quality, this helmet could be priced at over £100 an still seem good value. we'll see how the helmet lasts with everyday trainee use.
Overall this is a great helmet and extremely good value for money.
In the words of Winston Churchill, the following lecture will be like a skirt, "long enough to cover the subject and short enough to be interesting." Skirts, shorts, flip flops, sandals and any other beach wear are not suitable for riding a motorcycle!
Instructor Mark completed his first big group CBT at Uxbridge GOMOTO. All the training, reading and practise has paid off. A professional job done. Bravo!!
Lee and Richard, bravo, module 2 passes and with a clean sheet!
Craig, who was on a Cbt today, arrived with a DOT certified helmet. This helmet is only for the American market and not tested to European standards. Correctly approved safety helmets are a legal requirement look for the ECER 2205 mark to confirm appropriate certification.
Ciao for now
Robin, who passed with us back in august, popped in today to show off his new BMW F800.
He had a question about cornering and why he was finding it difficult to turn in to bends. The answer is counter steering, when traveling at speeds greater than 25-30 mph steering works the opposite way round (counter) e.g steering left will cause the motorcycle to lean and turn right, steering right will have the opposite action. This is due to Gyroscopic precession, the act of a gyroscope when turned on it's axis. On a motorcycle traveling at greater speeds the wheels become gyroscopes in turn changing the way the steering works.
